Improved full motion
Hubby and I have slept on a full motion water mattress for more than 40 years 🙂 This one is an improvement over the smooth ones. The indentations truly slow the bed’s hammocking. Also, we noticed that there’s a cooling effect with the indentations. Nice for the summer months 🙂 These mattresses have a 30 year prorated warrantee and are 25 mil, thicker than most we’ve seen.

If you are a full-motion fan, get it.
Get it. If you are a full-motion FANATIC like I am, this is the ultimate.The vinyl is thick. If you position your hardside liner correctly, this mattress is WAY overcut (awesome).1. Use large clips to hold the liner in place.a. Clip the liner at the top of the deck. I suggest clips with rubber contact-points, but I could not find these. These are to keep the liner safe. No clips with metal or sharp contact points, you will puncture or cut the liner. Also, you do not want to damage the deck finish on the outside. I used beach towel clips.b. I use cardboard under my clip (contact points) to be sure you do not puncture or cut the liner vinyl. I am sure there is no tape or glue on the cardboard (no chems contact with liner).c. Pre-fill. Pull (do not stretch) the inside liner material GENTLY up to get a âballoon effect from your linerâ.Why? This pushes the Strobel 300 mattress âin towards the center and upâ giving you lots of waterbed material at the top.2. I use a gauge.a. My perfect fill (Cal King Hard) was 268 gallons and you will still SINK DEEP with this much water.b. My 300 top was higher than the top of a quality liner.c. I have thick bumpers. That bunched EVEN MORE 300 material to the middle which was great.d. When you are filling, gently push the waterbed material into the center ensuring no folds or creases in sides as you fill. Again, all of the material at the top is the goal.3. ULTIMATE floatation feel. Deep, slow, rolling waves because the top is not tight. The feathertop dimples are the âicing on the cakeâ. They yield to weight very nicely. No âtrampoline-effectâ. Every part of your body floats/sinks nicely: ankle, hands, and head. Completely buoyant over all of that water. The mattress swallows you up.I tried the fiber beds, but I am a full-motion fan. The wave action is too much fun to miss out on. I call it my âyoga bedâ because I do yoga and your body can be in ANY position in bed and there are no pressure points.I want 3 things: squish, wave and bounce. I get all 3 when I stack multiple, soft (Cal. King) mattress toppers on top. Keep your heater at room temperature to avoid the mattress vinyl from âsweatingâ condensation into your toppers. Look for âSleep Zoneââ¦fluffy and washable. I have stacked feather beds in the past and those feel amazing also but I did get some mold and had to toss them (but I was not using my heater). That is why I like the washable toppers (just in case).
