Outstanding Company Response
Once is a while, especially with manufacturing shortcuts nowadays, you will have a product that has a defect. The difference between a good company and the others is how well the company responds to the problem. Mattress Covers, AKA Waterbed Access responded quickly and decisively. As soon as they were informed by me there was a problem, in this case a small leak in a seam, a new mattress was on its way. The new mattress is doing fine and has no problems. I can and will do business with this company in the future. Their excellent customer service earned my business for the foreseeable future.

IT LEAKED ON FIRST FILL !!!
I received this mattress Friday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend. I installed a new liner and mattress and started filling it up. When it was a little over half full we found out that they had missed about 1/8″ of the seam on the top left corner of the mattress and water was streaming out of the seam about 4″ from the corner where the layers fold together to make like a hospital corner. Evidently, they do not check for bad seams at the factory in China.I had to pump all of the water out (waste of time and money). Because it would be very hard to send back a wet mattress, I went ahead and patched over the seam and then put their very thin tape patch over my first patch as added protection. It is holding so far, but I am not sure if there are other seams that might be bad and just ready to let go. I would be very reluctant to buy another mattress from this company unless I knew they had a more reliable source for the mattresses. Note the color of the mattress they sent is red and not blue as shown in the picture, so the picture is not of the product they are shipping.Buyer beware – Nobody needs to replace a waterbed mattress with a bad one!!!

So far, great product. Whoever packaged the mattress for shipment did a fantastic job!!! It unfolded beautifully with absolutely no creases and the corners were perfectly puckered. I was oh so pleased that I didn’t have to constantly shift the mattress to smooth it out as it filled. The fill valve was positioned in the bottom center of the mattress, which was nice. My last two were both in the corner. Shipment was super speedy too.

One major complaint, the vinyl has a strong chemical smell.
I was pleased with the quality of the vinyl and assembly. One minor complaint, the vinyl is opaque so it is hard to see the bubbles to properly burp the mattress. One major complaint, the vinyl has a strong chemical smell and I expected it to dissipate after a few days. As I enter week two the smell seems as strong as ever. I would recommend wiping the mattress with a damp soapy cloth before you install it

Alright. I know this bed has had a lot of bad reviews. However I have had this bed for 3 years without a problem. It is a wonderful bed. The new one I got seems to be better then the old one in fact. I filled it perfectly on the first try. I recommend this bed. I love it!
Premeditated Trouble –
I’m pretty disappointed in this mattress
I figured if you saw one then you have seen them all. I’m pretty disappointed in this mattress. Sure it holds water but…1.) I got an ugly mud-brown mattress, not a pretty blue one.2.) There is a giant vinyl tag permanently affixed around the fill spout. Be careful how you pull your sheets on or you will end up with an annoying lump.3.) If you have ever owned a waterbed then you know that you have to burp the bed from time to time. Burping a waterbed requires you to use a broom handle or other such thing to push the air bubbles to the spout so you can let them out. If you don’t burp the bed you end up with annoying sloshing sounds every time someone moves. The designers of this mattress never used one. They made this mattress completely opaque(no light passes through). You can’t see where the bubbles are! Every other waterbed mattress that I ever owned was translucent (some lights passes through) so you can see the air bubbles and burp the bed.If I had the patience to drain and re-fill the bed, I would send this thing back and buy a proper one.

What can I say, it’s just a waterbed mattress that MAY or MAY NOT last a long time
You really can’t write a useful review for a waterbed mattress until you’ve seen how long it lasts, and by then you probably can’t buy another like it! My only complaint I can determine at this stage of ownership is that I WISH THEY MADE IT FROM CLEAR VINYL so you could see the air bubbles!!! I also wish waterbed mattress makers would mark the exact center of each of the four edges to aid in centering it in the frame. It’s impossible to do that with all the creases that have been set into it while folded up for shipment. Other than those things, this is just a typical free-flow hardside mattress that seems to be pretty much the same as all the previous mattresses it has replaced. The ways to make a good waterbed mattress has been known for decades. The only reason for deviating from those long-known ways is for marketing and cost reduction purposes. The corner treatment to reinforce the welded seam was a little different from other mattresses I’ve owned. It’s hard to describe and I’m not sure what I think of that, but I’ve never had ANY waterbed mattress fail near a corner seam, so this seemingly new treatment seems to solve a problem that hasn’t existed in the decades that I’ve been sleeping on waterbeds. I am a bit more concerned with the long seams at the top and bottom ends, between the corners. There doesn’t seem to be ANY reinforcement there. Only time will tell, and by then the same product probably won’t be available, so the question is moot. I wish I could get more of the very first mattress I bought for the bed in the early 1970s. It lasted far longer than any other mattress I’ve owned since, AND IT WAS MADE OF CLEAR VINYL!!!
