After 10 years, our memory foam mattress and box spring were more than at the end of their lives and needed to be replaced. Buying a new mattress is a highly personal and expensive decision and with so many options on the market¡ªmost of which you can’t see or try out in person because they’re sold exclusively online¡ªit’s incredibly challenging to find the right one. If you have a sleeping partner, it makes it even more difficult to find one that will work for both.My husband has both hip and lower back pain, so he was pretty skeptical about the whole mattress-in-a-box concept and wasn’t thrilled with the top picks I found online. To make matters worse, his back issues made it difficult for him to visit local mattress stores to test out different options. This meant it took us forever to agree on a mattress and where to buy it. I gave up after a month of on-and-off searching, but then came a particularly sleepless night on our old mattress, followed by severe back pain in the morning. That was the final straw. I set up the SmartBase foundation myself¡ªit was really easy and quick. Getting the mattress onto the base was a bit of a struggle due to its weight. I unpacked it according to the instructions, and it expanded to its full 12-inch height almost immediately.The real test is the sleep test. I usually dread the adjustment period with a new mattress, expecting at least a week of restless nights. I even set up the guest room just in case I needed to switch over for a few nights. But to my surprise, this AirYoung mattress was fantastic from the very first night.I’m primarily a back sleeper, and this mattress provides excellent support for my lower back and other areas. There’s no motion transfer, no squeaks, and it’s very easy to change positions¡ªunlike some memory foam mattresses where you feel stuck in the indentation. Every night has been a restful experience, and for the first time in a long time, I wake up with no back pain. My husband, with all his back issues, has also reported better sleep quality. Relieved long term back pain!
I needed a new mattress and decided to get this one as it is the hybrid type meaning it has both coils and foam layers. I got the 14 ing Queen size and let it expand the full 72 hours. Like others it comes compressed into a long and square box.When I put sheets on it felt good, it was truly medium firm. I read many reviews where the buyer said the mattress they bought was not firm enough.I bought an encashment first that is waterproof as every mattress company has said they would void the warranty if any stains of any sort were present. Cheap insurance, buy one.The first night I slept on this was amazing. I got to bed fast and unlike every morning for years I did not need prescription pills for terrible back pain from an injury. I am so happy with this and neverexpected just a new mattress could make that huge of a difference overnight. I would highly recommend anyone give it a try. It is advertised with a 100 night trial and 10 year warranty. I don’t need the 100 days, it’s the one for me. With the trial you will find how you like it without risk.I find it hard to believe just this mattress relieved that much pain in one night but it’s true. I hope others have it work as well as it did for me. It is very hard to believe but try it. My quality of life is so much better now!

So far, so goodish
Arrived earlier than expected delivery, which was nice. Unboxed it in our dining room at 2pm and let it spend the recommended 48 hours there. Upon cutting the wrapping, it expanded to 9-10 inches all the way around. Over the next 48 hours we checked the measurements several times. After 24 hours, it was lacking between 2-3 inches to be the full 14 inches. At 48 hours it was lacking 2 inches on the top left side and 1inch on the bottom left side. The right side was at the full 14 inch height. We put it on the bed frame and allowed it to expand another 7 hours before sitting on it. The left side is still sloped, so I stay away from that side, hoping it fully expands. (I have no desire to rolloff the bed)I’ll update again after a week.As far as the bed itself goes, day 2 of sleeping on it. Medium Firm feel and ZERO aches and pains in the morning!! I was pleasantly surprised by that fact! The true test will be when my husband gets home from work, he’s the true back pain person in the family. So I will include his thoughts in my updated review next week. The sidewalls are ok, not as sturdy as I had hoped, but decent. All in all good purchase so far, the zero aches and pains makes it worth it on its own!!
