The 12-inch profile Mercer Hybrid Gel Memory Foam Innerspring Mattress combines the support of a wrapped steel coil innersprings with the conforming response of gel memory foam. Starting with a 0.5- inch top layer of gel infused memory foam that disperses body heat and creates a cooler sleeping surface while retaining the pressure-relieving properties of traditional memory foam. A second layer of 0.25-inch comfort foam and a third layer of 0.25-inch comfort foam and a fourth later of 0.5-inch comfort foam works with the support layer providing you with the ultimate sleeping experience. An additional layer of 0.75 inch of comfort foam works with the 8-inch support layer of individually wrapped coils, which are in their encased in separate pockets, so they can contour precisely to your body. Individually wrapped coil innersprings move independently and reduce the sensation of movement on a bed providing contouring comfort and support for an undisturbed night sleep.

Quality and price
This is our third mattress from this company. First one we used and then put it in our guest room. It’s now eight years old. Second one is six years old, we moved to a new house and decided to purchase a king size bed. I was able to get it out of the box and onto the bed, using a dolly. Unrolled with no problem. I did have to flip the mattress over over. No smell and it rised up with no problem. I do wait the 72 hours recommend not to sleep or put my bedding on. I highly recommend this firm mattress. Price is excellent for the quality.

Ok wow. Where do I begin.. real review.. previous history. my last mattress I had for over 10 years. Paid 1200$. had it so long the wife and I had made permanent indents on our personal sides… .. with all this said.. this mattress was a huge upgrade.. its strange how it’s soft at some times but firm at other times in the same spot… could be all in my mind because of all the reviews I’ve read about it being firm to some and soft to others.. in the morning when I wake is when it feels the most firm to me. But weirdly soft at bed time. true I don’t feel when the wife moves as was promised. This is good. One of my biggest concerns as a big guy was the support on the edges.. especially for when the wife and I was being “active”. For anyone with this same concern.. this is not an issue.. im 6’1″ 260 and the wife is 5’4″ 150.. this mattress handles extreme “edge work”. just as good as our store brought 1200$ mattress.. all our bed activities and positions was “met and supported”.. this would be a 3 or 4 star mattress if it wasn’t for the fact that it was a king size pillow top for under 500$ and it got delivered to my front door..those 2 reasons made it 5. Especially coming from an old mattress. keep in mind it’s heavy. 2 people will be needed to carry it.. here’s something funny. They put the setup instructions in the inside of the mattress plastic.. so basically I had to set it up. Completely.. to get the instructions on how to set it up. Lol.. I should have taken away a star for that alone.. smh..maybe I got a good one but I didn’t feel springs like other stated.. the morning firmness doesn’t bother me or the wife. seems like an 85% chance at getting a good one maybe even higher. Some people are hard to please. Plus it seems like you can always return it.. Amazon is amazing that way.. for the price, especially if you are upgrading from an old mattress. This is worth a demo..

UPDATE: October 2020. I’m not sure why it took me so long to submit an updated review, but I have upped my initial review from a 3 to 4 stars. We have had this mattress over 5 years, and I am honestly pretty pleased with it overall. I did not expect it to last this long, but it has and I definitely expect to get a few more years out of it. It definitely sleeps hot, so that part of my review hasn’t changed. But it’s a comfortable mattress. I didn’t realize when I first purchased it that mattresses have a breaking in period, so once we got past that period we definitely started sleeping better. Whenever we travel, I honestly look forward to sleeping in my own bed, whereas in the past with prior mattresses, I used to relish in the reprieve of hotel mattresses. Also, below I noted that the bed itself is wider than a standard King sized mattress, but I believe it is actually deeper, not wider. My biggest complaint is that when we purchased it originally. I did try to return it and they tried to charge me hundreds of dollars to return it, which is why I kept it. I actually came back to this listing now to purchase an additional mattress from here for our spare room, because I like this one so much!Original Review 2016: I really don’t know what to say about this mattress. Do I sleep comfortably? Not really. I will say that my back is less achy though. However, my old mattress was at least 8 years old and also had springs sticking out both sides. We came from a spring mattress, so this hybrid one took some getting used to. When we first got it, I would wake up every night each time I turned over because of the mattress having to “remember” my new position. I am also a very warm sleeper, and although many reviews said there’s a cooling gel and the product claims to use this cooling gel, it definitely is NOT cooling. My boyfriend sleeps with half his body outside of the blankets every night and I wake up drenched in sweat. Every single night. This is definitely my biggest complaint, as with my old mattress I had finally stopped sweating in it. I tried using a lighter blanket with this mattress and it didn’t help much. This mattress is also about 4 inches wider than a standard king, so none of my sheets fit on it. I had to purchase sheet straps just to keep the sheets on, which I’ve never had to use before. All in all, I can’t say I’m exactly thrilled about this mattress but now I’m kind of stuck with it for the next 10 ish years because returning it would be such a hassle.
