Updated: after some back and forth, the seller has kindly given me the option to change the covers (the original ones cannot be removed but the replacement ones are used on top of the original mattresses). The now Burgundy color is as pictured, a saturated dark hue, and the black stitches and zipper match perfectly with this, so I guess my recommendation would be to stay away from the orange. Updated to 4 stars as it is a great comfortable product, but just be aware that due to the prohibitive return cost you will have to be totally sure this is the item/size/color you want as there is no margin for error!Original review:Description says âsolid colorsâ and shows bright saturated hues. In real life, the color looks faded (got the orange) and the stitches are contrasted and white, while the zipper is grayish-tan. Overall this make the item look on the cheap side and actually more of a slightly bleached outdoor lounge chair pad than a futon. To clarify, the highlights and zipper colors are all the same orange as the actual mattress in the (photoshopped) product pictures. Be aware that the return is at your charge and you have to pay for shipment, so make sure this is exactly what you want and donât be picky about the looks or the actual color of the final product.If you are looking for functionality, they seem sturdy and not too soft, just like any regular futon mattress.

Exactly what I needed!
My son and his wife bought this in navy for me to sleep on when I visited them in Portland. It was so comfortable that I ordered this in brown and slept on it when they visited so they could have my room. There is not enough room for more than one adult on the futon. It is comfortable, easy to store and single sheet set fit it perfectly. I got the same wiener dog flannel sheet set they did at Costco for about $15. The futon arrived tightly packaged in a box and plastic wrap so I had a struggle pulling it out of the box. I decided to just carefully cut the box which worked for me. I planned to air it out for a couple weeks but this one did not have an odor that others have commented on. My sons did smell and he aired it out. I would never had guessed. Fine purchase, nice to have a back-up sleeping plan. I chose brown because I have dark wood furniture and thought it would be ok to leave it rolled up in the corner when not in use. The navy is more attractive but the brown more practical. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of the colors offered. I now store it in my closet shelf with the sheets waiting for their next visit.

Comfort!
If you like firm but cushioned mattresses this is the one for you. This mattress sleeps so good no matter how you like to sleep. I wake up every morning well rested. I bought this because I hate my expensive memory foam mattress so I gave it to the little ones. It can only be spot cleaned although it has a zipper so my advice is to keep food and drink away. Also keep very sleepy drooling people away as well. I top mine with a sheet. It I s easy to roll up and put away. This is very convenient and efficient.

Great for narrow space
Great for narrow width space. I use a 3″ Therma Rest air sleeping pad under it on the floor.

Wonderful, except for cover (who wouldn’t need to clean it well??)
I have taken a long term trip using this mattress and it is very comfortable (with an added pad of about 1â thick underneath it)My only complaint is the cover: it is tufted all along the surface of the mattress with some string. I cut them and was able to easily remove the cover to wash it. The cover itself is not that washer friendly and a lot of thread unraveled. Overall itâs very good, moderately good in thickness, inconvenient to fold, and good on support. It was not hard to put the cover back on, a little clunky IMPORTANT: the batting inside and absolutely minimal foam padding on either side will not last long for anyone who plans to take the cover off. Beautiful and deliciously functional
Having slept on a futon for a couple years now, I love the bed style and functionality. My former wearing a tad thin by now, I am thankful to bolster it by first a second, and now a third, the bed frame I purchased elsewhere being wider and needing two to accomplish that. So comfortable and beautiful too. I love it!
