    Excellent, and made in Japan
It’s exactly as advertised. Surprisingly comfortable for how thin it is and also comes with a folded paper crane. Very cool.Just be aware, returns are likely a little troublesome if you’ve already opened it. There’s no stuffing the expanded mattress back into the slim box it came in. That said, there’s no reason to return if your concern is about quality. This is good. You’ll probably want to get the exact cover this is meant for. $50 is kind of steep and clearly designed as a significant portion of profit being made. For that reason I went with another that had similar measurements and it doesn’t quite fit. While it still works, I should have just gotten the one recommended in hindsight.

Have used for 4 months now. love it
This matters is awesome for several reasons.1) OPENS SPACE IN ROOM: it really opens the room up. i just kept seeing how much a bed swallows space in a room. i roll this japanese futon mattres into a makeshift sofa couch during the day. i’ve been loving having that space now.2) BETTER ON MY NECK AND BODY: I’m a 58-yr-old woman, and it’s good for my back and body. It has been very comfortable. i don’t have problems with tingling in my hips and thighs and shoulders/arms anymore like i did with a regular mattress. (and my formerr mattress was a pretty good quality).3) CLEANER FEELING: it makes me keep up with some better hygiene habits bc you are supposed to air it out 1x week (at the minimum hang over a chair, and better is when you can put it in the sun in the backyard or at a window). Because i sleep with it on the floor this makes me run the vacuum in my room 1x week also before putting the aired-out futon mattress back on the floor. so even though it’s a little more maintenance thana regular bed I like it since airing it out makes it feel so clean. Plus, that gives me the structure and makes me run the vacuum in my room and change my linen (when before i didn’t often enough 😬).4) BETTER QUALITY SLEEP: i’m sleeping without having to wake up from pain and tingling in my legs and arms and without lower back pain. So i get deeper sleep and wake up more rested. plus because my sleeping space is cleaner and better maintained, I know that is helping my sleep and mental health. As far as thickness, like i wrote, it’s very comfortable and good for my body.as far a heat retention, i haven’t noticed this mattress holds heat (at least not any more than any “regular” mattress). I run hot (woman in late 50s) so I have found these solutions when i had a regular mattress that i still use with this futon mattress:a) i wash or at least rinse off in a quick shower at night, cool water at the end, to clean out poresb) run a fan and keep room temp cool,c) use 3 layers of sheets on top of the mattress (underneath me between me and the mattress) and 2-3 sheets layered with a blanket on top of me.

    Great for the price.
Paired this up with their Tatami mat and I’ve been sleeping SO much better than on a “traditional” bed. Memory foam mattress doesn’t support your body properly and makes me feel like I’m sinking into the bed (I’m not even obese), and I would wake up feeling tired and groggy every morning.Ever since I started sleeping on this shikibuton, I wake up feeling refreshed, I have deeper sleep and my body feels much more recovered the next morning (my job is physically demanding, so this bed helps with body aches). My wife won’t get on board with giving this way of sleeping a try, so I just got the twin and sleep in another room. I actually crave sleeping on this bed and look forward to it over sleeping on the memory foam bed. Anytime I sleep on the foam bed, after a few minutes of laying down, I regret my decision and sometimes I’ll even get up and leave to sleep on my shikibuton.I don’t think this one is as “legit” and thick as the higher end ones, but for the price it’s actually a great way to try out and decide if it’s something you wanna do long term before upgrading to a pricier higher end one that’s more traditional in thickness.I purchased a cheaper one not made in Japan through Amazon as well, and I can definitely tell the difference in quality over this one from Japan. This bed keeps your body cooler too. I always wake up sweating on the memory foam bed, but now I rarely ever do with this futon.

I read a lot of amazing reviews on this matters and was really impress before buying. So… this is all true. Really amazing mattress. It’s thinner then usual like from IKEA. But it’s amazing, soft to lay on and have good dreams. We are using it already 6 months, everything perfect. Truly recommend

Very happy with my new futon, and feel like it was definitely worth paying the extra money. It came vacuum packed, but pretty much straight after unpacking it become nice and fluffy.

Bought second one. Personally, I tend to get a bit hot, but I live in Dubai, sooo…probably, insulation is just right to cover 4 seasons.Personally, I love firm mattresses and sleeping on the floor. It’s not to save money. I would have bought ratio 8 sleep pod, but they have to delivery to Dubai in any way or form.
