Glad I took a chance.
No longer in the bloom of youth, my back has started to bother me and my crappy, hand-me-down mattress wasn’t cutting it. I had two important factors in considering its replacement: size and price. I live in an older home, and a king size mattress will not fit up the stairs; my old mattress was actually two twin beds. Additionally, like everyone these days, I really didn’t have a lot of money to spend.Both these points made this mattress quite attractive. Being memory foam, I figured it would get up the stairs (don’t ask me how it’s getting out, I’ll worry about that another day), and the price couldn’t be beat. I was worried about several things from researching and reading reviews, however. One, was ten inches thick enough? The price jump from ten to twelve inches is quite large, but I wondered if it was worth it. Two, the foam smell mentioned by some as overwhelming and others as non-existant. Three, the firmness factor. And finally, four, the foam making you hot while you sleep. Let me cover them all briefly:One- The mattress actually seems quite “tall” and I don’t feel that it was worth a hundred dollars an inch for anymore height.Two- It did smell when I opened it. For the first week, if the bedroom door was closed all day, I could smell it again. However, it didn’t bother me. It smelled like the room had been painted awhile ago.Three- It is an extremely firm mattress. In fact, it’s probably one of the firmest I have encountered. However, I prefer a firm mattress so it’s not a problem for me. I think that it would be intolerable for someone who likes a soft mattress.Four- It is early spring here, albeit unseasonably warm, but I have already awoken several times sweaty and hot. Even when I sit in the bed and read and whatnot, I feel that the mattress does seem to heat up under me in a way that an old school mattress does not. I will be interested to see what happens once the weather gets hot.So, despite my concerns, the only real issue I have had thus far is the warmth. All in all, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this to others. I also wanted to throw out there that this mattress does work with my bed, which is a platform bed and does not use a box spring, because I didn’t see much information about that while I was researching and made the assumption that it would when I bought it.UPDATE 12/22/2013: All the information in my original review still stands. I would add that although the mattress has the tendency to make one hot, over the time I have had the product I learned to adjust my blanket habits and never felt like this was a big issue. However, another problem has arisen recently that I wanted to add to this review.I have been sleeping on this mattress since it was purchased. I was happy with the mattress, but after awhile using it “normally” I had settled on sleeping across what would typically be the head or the foot of the mattress. The reasons for this aren’t pertinent to the review except that about two and a half months ago, we rearranged bedrooms and I began sleeping on the mattress “normally” again. I’m not sure if the previous weird across the bed arrangement staved off the issue or what, but now the side of the mattress where I am sleeping is basically caving in. This is a pain because I feel alternately like I am going to roll off the edge of the bed on the floor or end up in a hole that I have to heave myself out of. I have an infant and I don’t even feel comfortable taking a nap with him on that side of the bed because if he is next to me in the middle of the mattress, he literally starts to roll down next to me and I’m afraid he’ll smother.This product seems to stay on a significant sale and is therefore much cheaper than most king size mattresses, so getting a good year or two out of it may end up being a good use of your money; I haven’t calculated it out. However, I wanted others to be aware that after a time, you may be sleeping in a hole or find the bed unworkable for your sleeping arrangements, and to be able to factor that in when you consider purchasing it.

Good bang for the buck, slept like a baby on the first night.
I will be adding to this as time goes on, but I installed bed on New Year’s Eve. I removed the mattress from the box and placed it on the platform. Logically the simplest way to unroll the compressed mattress would have it upside down, so you would need to unroll it from underneath (it will make sense when you’re doing it) Remove the plastic wrapping and the mattress will start to expand, so make sure you have it in place when this starts to happen.I let it sit there for 12 hours, and yes it stunk for a little while but the smell went away fairly quickly. My one disappointment is that it expanded to the full 10 inches.The first night sleep, I slept like a baby. The mattress is nice and firm, but don’t be fooled you sink into the top a tiny bit so it is super comfortable. If it stays this firm, I will be very happy with it. A lot of reviews give this mattress at 7 out of 10 on firmness, well I’m saying 8 or even 8 1/2 but I think once its all worked in it will be a 7 or 8.I am coming from a Dormia mattress so I am familiar with memory foam. For the money I think it is a solid buy. 25 year warranty and yes there is a phone number to call.888.975.8243Like I said I will update this review as time goes on, but so far so good.****************************************** Update May the 5th 2017 ************************************************Now that I have had this mattress for a few months, and it has been worked in, I will say that it is an absolute delight. It did expand to a full 10 in thickness, and it is quite comfortable. It is nice and firm (which I can appreciate) You’ll sink into it, and inch, inch and a half, and when you get up off the mattress you’ll sink in a little bit, but it re-expands very quickly. I will keep my 5 star rating. For this price, the quality blows away my name brand one that I had prior.********************************************* Update July 11th 2017 ****************************************************I love this bed :)**********************************************Update April 8th 2018 ****************************************************It has gotten a bit soft in the middle right where I sleep. After seem research one should rotate mattress clockwise every 3 months, I did not. I still think it is a good mattress, I just may have gotten a faulty one.********************************************* Update April 24th, 2018 ****************************************************Emailed LUCID Warranty services, I sent to them a short letter, and a copy of my invoice from Amazon.I am now required to remove all lining from the bed, place a pole across the width of the mattress, and measure the indentation, if any (while videoing) remove the mattress and photograph bed frame, in my case platform, and send all of this to them, for them to proceed. I messaged back that I don’t have a indentation, and that it just sinks in to far in the center, but this is there procedure.

Después de ver demasiadas reseñas de aprox 15 colchones memory foam en el rango de precio de 3000-5000 mxn (150-250 usd), este fue el que mas me convenció de todos, cuando lo saque de su caja me asuste un poco ya que la caja parecÃa como si se hubiera mojado, pero al parecer solo fue la caja ya que el colchón viene en una bolsa sellado y otra aparte para mantenerlo comprimido, al ponerlo tardo aprox 5 minutos en llegar a los 25 cm, aunque lo deje un poco mas de tiempo sin subirme ni nada ya que un lado no llegaba aun a eso (al final todos sus lados quedaron uniformemente), al sentarme en el colchón se hundió un poco mas de lo que esperaba, pero al acostarme me sorprendió que era bastante firme ya que distribuyo mi peso bien si que se hundiera como cuando me senté, en cuanto a la sensación que me transmitió mientras estaba a punto de dormir, sin duda es magnifica, se siente bastante fresca el colchón aunque haga calor, a mi parecer tiene la suavidad perfecta, hasta ahora sin duda pienso que es super recomendable este colchón y sin duda una de las mejores opciones por su precio,apenas llevo 10 dias asi que conforme pase el tiempo tratare de ir actualizando mi reseña.â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â ACTUALIZACIÃN 23/11/2019Ya casi 5 meses desde que compre este colchón, y no puedo decir nada malo sobre el, sin duda supero por mucho mis expectativas, se ha mantenido igual a como el primer dÃa que lo use, la suavidad es exactamente igual, no se ha deformado ni nada, estaba pensando en comprar otro mas para otra habitación pero de otro tamaño, y por lo que vi en Keepa su precio varias muy pocas veces y también lo que me fije es que ofrecen 25 años de garantÃa, lo cual me parece sorprendente ya que normalmente ofrecen 10 años, bueno volviendo a lo del colchón, sin duda hasta ahora lo recomiendo y me he llevado una muy buena experiencia con este que es el primer colchón memory foam que he comprado, quizá vuelva a actualizar cuando ya sea el añoâ â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â ACTUALIZACIÃN 5/11/2020Bueno ya año y medio con el colchón y me sorprendió, habÃa leÃdo que tenia a deformarse a los pocos meses y que tenÃan que girarlo para evitar eso, en el 1 y medio que lo llevo usando nunca lo he tenido que girar, ademas de que no ha sufrido ningún tipo de deformación, sigue igual de cómodo como si fuera el primer dÃa que lo tuviera,sigue siendo igual de fresco también, ya puedo decir que a sido una excelente compra. I can’t rave enough about this product! I just LOVE it! This bed is a little bit firmer, which what I want with my mattress. So if you’re looking for a softer kind, this would not be for you. I like it the way it is because I have a back problem and I find that the firmness of the bed relieves it. It is made with a soft, almost velvety type of clothing that covers it.It came in a box and was light enough to carry into my apartment. However, after I unload it from the box, it grew to its original size and became so freaking heavy! LOL! I wasn’t expecting it to triple its weight, so I find it difficult to tuck the bed sheets underneath it. I think you need somebody to help you out by putting on new sheets with this bed. But if you’re used to lifting heavy stuff, then I guess you don’t need to.Although it came a little later that what it was promised to. I know that this is not the company’s fault. Most of the product that is ordered in Canada are shipped by UPS, so it’s a guarantee that I’ll get it after 2 days ( I’m a Prime Member), with that being said, LUCID is based in the US, so they used Canada Post to send the product to me, which took an extra day before or so after it was all processed and too bad that it landed on the weekend, so I got my product on Monday.It arrived late but it was all worth it!

I bought this and Structures by Malouf HIGHRISE Folding Metal Bed Frame 14″ High Bi-Fold Platform Bed Base and Box Spring as a replacement for an aging high-end organic cotton mattress and boxspring. So worth the money!What everyone says is true: after unpacking, you need several days for the scent to start dissipating. I’m usually sensitive to odours or chemicals, and this didn’t give me a headache or make me feel sick, but definitely was noticeable. The frame is very stable and provides a tonne of under-bed storage which is really handy in a small bedroom like ours.I found the mattress firm but still soft enough, but to please my BF who likes a softer mattress, we added an Obus-Forme topper from Sears. It’s a really nice balance between firm and soft, no aches and pains, and my BF can now (mostly) sleep through the night. Compared to the prices on even entry level mattresses from conventional furniture shops, this has been a really pleasant alternative.My only complaint, aside from the smell, is that it is warmer than the cotton mattress that I am used to. I found that in the summer (we’ve used it for about 5 months now), I needed to sleep without sheets and even with AC, I felt warm. If you’re sensitive to heat or prefer a cooler bed, you might need something different or a special topper. My BF didn’t notice any difference in terms of the heat.Also, if you are heavier, this mattress and frame are more than adequate for support. No creaking!
