Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad，4in Thick 4in Thick Memory Foam Camping Mattress

Just what the doctor ordered!
Finally, after a bunch of misses with my orders which were all big on claims and very short on living up to them, it is so great to at last feel like I ordered something that was actually worth my money and time to try! This Slow Slog Self-Inflating 4″ Sleeping Mat did everything it claimed to, and then some. Thus far I’ve noticed no issues. It is as big as an actual mattress when inflated, has water-resistant material which I find incredibly important for camping (or even durable indoor use), and it inflated to full size on its own without me having to do any work at all, reasonably quickly. [I personally would bring along a mattress moving bag to slip over it, if I was worried about possible flood conditions during sleep while tent camping, to keep packing light]It also came with loose buckle straps, which I find to be a great help, plus what I laughably thought was a bonus dry bag… but didn’t even realize was actually to be used as a big inflatable bag pump if necessary – which I may also use for other blow up items, when out away from access to a motor pump.The mattress/pad can be deflated and rolled up, is not heavy to pack in to camp at 7lbs for the single, is a good color, and most importantly to me, is actually comfortable. And I mean this -I have a very severe pain disorder, and it’s hard to imagine but even things like mattresses and pillows can hurt a LOT – but this is actually better to disperse tension points for me personally, than a lot of other bedding/seating options I’ve tried. I’m grateful to have something I can use that actually lessens the stress on my bones and joints. (When inflated it’s more flat, than those bumps as other inflatable mattresses have which cause endless pressure points for me and make sleeping impossible.)I’m a relatively slim adult, so YMMV if you are on the heavier side as per the comfort rating, since it’s only 4″ thick. But I find this to be better made than a lot of camping mattress options, and felt that the price at time of order of $90 was fair, for what felt like a reasonably durable item.I am considering using this indoors, and for me, I would not really even consider this a “mat” – but more of a thin mattress. After all, if you wanted, 2 of these stacked would be full mattress thickness. I can get by on just the one.I admit, I have not had a chance to test this in severe heat or cold yet, to know how it would sleep in more difficult temperatures. If I get a chance and that affects my present rating, I will come back to update my review. The time I spent on it was in the mid 70sF. But at least my skin doesn’t stick to the material, and it’s not scratchy, nor feel very hot as some do. This is firm enough to allow air flow, provide support, and not hurt my spine.I would think this is a good option also for RV use, for boat – although not submergible, or for indoor guest sleeping. Doesn’t take a ton of space to store when rolled up – the bag is some 33″long x12″wide (NOT the skinny little orange rolled mat the guy has on his blue backpack in the picture, which is very misleading!) Plan accordingly if trying to take on a plane or stow in tight spaces.

They work, not a perfect replacement of ones previously owned.
Not sure I love these. I bought them to replace an old set I had, but they aren’t quite the same. I did have to inflate them further with the manual bag valve that comes with them. This feature is super handy and ensures you never need an actual pump. They are soft and overall seem sufficient.

Amazing self inflating mat
I was so impressed by this mat. It arrives almost vacuum sealed and within 5 minutes the mat inflates without the need for an electric or hand pump. Once it inflates as much as it can on its own, you have an option to add more air into it simply by squeezing air from the bag into the bed. I wish it came in a larger size. I prefer it over a typical air mattress since it has true cushion built into its core. This is wonderful option for anyone who might be out camping without electricity. There is no noise to inflate this. Very impressed!

Great for camping!
This sleeping mat is great for camping. We usually sleep in an air mattress but this mat is way better. It’s nice and thick and has 4in foam inside making it better on my back. I was able to sleep on my side and woke up with no pain. Its nice and firm. The sleeping mat is easy to use and easy to inflate. It comes with a storage bag that can also be use to put extra air inside to adjust how firm you want it. The mat rolls up fairly easy once all the air is out and its bag let’s you store and carry it around easily. Definitely using it this summer on our camping trips.

I legit love this thing. In fact I’ve tested a number of self-inflatable sleeping pads with embedded foot-pumps and despite this one not having an internal pumping device, it beats all of them HANDS DOWN in both comfort and durability.The importing thing to understand is that this mat is essentially a hybrid between a traditional inflatable pad and a foam mat. It’s made of a very similar albeit softer PVC outer, but with an embedded layer of memory foam on the inside that expands before you get to inflating it. And the difference is night and day when it comes to sleeping comfort. Not only does it not have those annoyingly wavy structural divots on the top, but you can actually adjust the level of firmness by controlling the amount of air you put in. So it’s both perfectly flat and cushy on top.In terms of dimensions, I measured it at exactly at 78.5″ (long) x 30″ (wide) x 3.75″ (thick) but it does bulge out a little on the sides so there’s some leeway there. I’m pretty much 6′ tall and can lay on it comfortably with a small pillow and not have my feet dangling off of the end. So the length is essentially exact for my height. Couldn’t be happier.Unfortunately I can’t say that I’m a fan of the storage bag inflation system. Rolling it up each time just to increase pressure is incredibly inefficient, and the overall feel is like pushing against a giant external lung. The bag material just isn’t thick enough for me to feel comfortable pressing on it at higher pressures without worrying about popping it. In fact it reminds me of a thinner version of my dry bags that I use for storing my electronics. Imo, it’s just a waste of time. Better to blow it up manually with your mouth once the memory foam has expanded to capacity. And it really only takes an additional 3-5 breaths so it’s easy. Save the storage bag for storing.The only other downside is the larger profile. Compared with my other papery PVC sleeping pads that roll up into a cylinder that’s maybe 4″ x 7″, this one is closer to the size of a small sleeping bag. Very happy they included the buckled straps because they’re absolutely necessary for preventing the memory foam for taking on air. I suppose small bungees could work just as well. Kinda wish they were attached or tethered to the bottom or top of the pad for convenience; but it’s important not to lose them because it might be a struggle getting the mat back into the storage bag otherwise.And I won’t lie that rolling up the mat afterwards is more difficult than a regular inflatable pad. The foam simply provides more resistance, so you need to be slightly more aggressive. Nowhere near the difficulty of my motorized self-inflatable queen-sized mattresses though. Those are a pain and a half to stow away and their respective storage bags are tiny. The bag you get here actually has space to spare on the top where you can fold in some clothing or even an inflatable pillow. You even get two small patches in case of a tear; but honestly the foam does such a good job at buffering the pressure against the walls that it’s not that big of a concern. You still have to watch out for punctures though, so be careful not to set up your bedding or tent on anything sharp like pine needles or thin roots. Camping 101.To summarize, if you’re someone who prefers a firmer mat that’s higher up off of the ground than a cheaper inflatable pad, this is about as good as it gets. It’s minimalistic, super supportive and far lighter in weight than a traditional inflatable mattress. Strange that the bottom of the black model is actually coloured grey, but at least it matches the floor of my tent. And did I mention the extra insulation? Yeah, since it sits higher up and the foam is mostly made of tiny air pockets, it’s so much better on colder terrain. Probably don’t even need to use an extra blanket like on my other pads. Nevertheless, there is room for a few minor improvements to the bag and buckles so I can’t quite give it a perfect score; but to date, it’s easily the best sleeping mat I’ve tested. 4.9/5 stars. Nearly perfect.

This is the most comfortable inflatable camping sleeping pad I have ever tried. It isn’t the most compact when deflated, but it is definitely the most comfortable narrow sleeping pad for one person. Being able to use the carrying bag to inflate this pad is a novel approach; the instructions provided for inflating and deflating the pad are clear and well illustrated. When inflated, lying down on this is super comfortable, in large part due to the top and bottom foam laters. I also like the material this is made with; there isn’t any squeaking sound like when you’re moving around on a rubber/plastic inflatable mat. Overall if you are looking for a super comfortable sleeping pad that isn’t too thick or wide, this is a good buy.
