If this were the story of Goldilocks, this would be Baby Bearâs mattress – itâs just right.
To start off with, I had a pretty crappy mattress for about 10 years before I bought this one, so Iâm a little jaded. But I waited until this baby was on sale, that way I wouldnât feel guilty if it didnât meet my expectations (which, honestly, werenât that high, but they werenât too low, either). I suffer with chronic back pain and dislocated ribs, so I know how important it is to have a great, supportive, comfortable mattress. The mattress was delivered in a HEAVY box. Iâm pretty small (5â4â, 130lbs), and was able to force it up the stairs by myself⦠after about 15 minutes of fighting with it. Not without lots of grunts, sweat, and possibly a few expletives thrown in, but I got it up there. I decided I was going to unbox it and let it expand on my platform bed frame. That way I wouldnât have to move it twice. Iâve got super comfy couches, so I could deal for a night or two. Once I unrolled it, this thing was nearly as flat as a pancake. Itâs gotta be high-quality vacuum-sealed based on how quickly it started expanding once I carefully cut a slit into the bag. (Side note: be sure to have it placed facing the correct way so you donât have to fight with it once it starts expanding. Itâs much easier to move when itâs flat than when itâs fully expanded.)It expanded most of the way within the first 18 hours. But I decided to let it go 72 just to make sure I could get it to the size it was supposed to be. And it made it⦠almost. My 12â mattress expanded to roughly 10.5-11â. I thought it did pretty well considering some of the horror stories I read in the Q&A and reviews. I donât think the off-gassing was that bad, but I was ill 3 months before and still was without my sense of smell. But my young daughters said it didnât smell bad, so Iâd call that a win. One thing I read to help the mattress fully expand was to walk around on it once itâd mostly expanded. So I did. And let me tell you, my legs havenât gotten that great a workout in years. It was tough! I like to think it helped, but Iâm not entirely sure it did.Now down to the nitty gritty. My 12â mattress was listed as being Plush. Well, I definitely wouldnât call it plush. I equate plush with the softest, comfiest, âyour body sinks into itâ mattress available, and this is not that. HOWEVER, this mattress has all but cured my back pain (at least at night). While I donât sink into it, it cradles my body without being restricting. My parents have an older memory foam mattress that envelopes my body, making it really hard to roll over. This is the exact opposite. I just feel comfy when Iâm laying on it. Kind of like the Baby Bear in Goldilocks. I think a firmer mattress would be TOO firm, and a plusher mattress would be too soft. This is Baby Bearâs mattress. It just feels like all is right with the world when I lay on it. I no longer toss and turn due to my back and chest pain. I sleep really well. This is the kind of mattress you want to snuggle into under a cozy blanket on a rainy day, reading a book while drinking a hot cup of tea. Itâs that great. Also, Iâm a hot sleeper, and it doesnât seem to be an issue with this particular mattress. I did buy a cooling mattress cover (a MUST), so that might have something to do with it, but itâs great. All this to say, if youâre on the fence because you think the mattress will be too soft, buy this one. If you think itâll be too firm, buy it. Iâve never had a mattress that called my name before, but this one sure does. Youâll love it.

Nice mattress, but assuredly not plush
The mattress feels nice and is a great value. It does appear to be made of high quality materials and has a good overall feel. It never had a chemical smell of any kind. Based on some other pictures, I do not believe mine fully formed in some of the corners, but it is close enough (we actually let it settle for about 72 hours before using it). I find this to be a comfortable mattress, but I can very much assure you that this mattress is NOT plush. This is assuredly a FIRM mattress despite what is advertised. For the record, I am the type of person that can sleep on nearly any surface, so the firmness does not bother me. My wife is not that type of sleeper and we specifically picked out a plush mattress for her, and she initially was not happy about the firmness. However, after sleeping on it for a couple of weeks, she has admitted that she has been sleeping better and has less back/neck pains than she had from our old pillow top mattress. We will likely be keeping the mattress, though I should note we just added a padded topper yesterday.Take our experience for what it’s worth, but if you specifically want a plush mattress, this ain’t it.

If you like bricks this bed is for you!
I actually already have the same mattress. I was trying to find the same one I bought from a local furniture store that recently closed. I wasnât sure this would be the same. The 1st one I bought was named chime elite. Since then I guess they changed the name up a bit. Also Amazon shows it listed as white. So When it arrived I knew it was the same as the one I already has because it was the blue and white squares. If you are looking for a âplushâ mattress, I would avoid this mattress. It is more like a brick. My preference is hard, not fluffy or plush. The top layer is ohhh soooo cooling. Nice and cool! No matter how long you lay. But I donât get to enjoy that since I put mattress encasements over the mattress to protect it from little kid messes. It took about a day to completely expand. I have the mattress on the floor so if you do step on the corners or side it does squish nearly flat. It can hold up to 280 in weight at least comfortably. I love this mattress. I can go to bed with my lower back hurting and wake up to no body aches. Plus it was cheaper buying on Amazon by about $100. This mattress did have a strange odor but once I put the mattress encasement over it, I havenât smelled anything. The cover does have a zipper so it appears it can come off to be washed. I wouldnât do that since It may affect the warranty if any issues should arise. Came in a big box, rolled up and vacuum sealed. Twin size can easily be set up by one person.â¼ï¸update 2/18/23 – I am still enjoying this brick hard mattress! Seriously, the cover is plushy and soft if you just touch it with your hand. But lay down and you are on a pile of bricks 𤣠I switch it length wise about once a month to prevent any dips in it. No sagging whatsoever, still very very firm and stiffðð¨UPDATE #2 – 12/18/24 – This mattress is still hard as a brick many years later! I love it! No sinking in any spots. I wish they made pillows like this! I need a good firm, hard pillow. I still keep an encasement cover on it, wash it every now and then. The mattress looks brand new still. Again, if you want a plushy mattress, this would not be a great buy for you. It is as if you are lying on the floor. Very firm, hard mattress, even years later it has held up better than my husbands $1,000 mattress.
